Mongolia: Tengerton
Following in the footsteps of the sensational Egschiglen, Tengerton (meaning “the sound” and “the colour of the sky”) brings together masters Uugan and Nasaa, steeped in decades of musical practice, and the younger Yesuu and Dalai, trained in both academic and traditional music. Born in Mongolia (most of them in the Gobi Desert) and coming from nomadic communities, they rely on two emblematic elements of the Mongolian musical world: the moriin khuur (horsehead fiddle), the tobshuur (two-string lute), the bishguur (oboe), and khöömii (overtone singing). Paying tribute to nomadic shepherds, these outstanding musicians draw inspiration from the endless arid expanses, filling them with sounds and melodies carried by the wind… The deepest emotions accompany them in their mission of peace and in their commitment to respecting the forces of nature.
