Mali : Tartit
“The lingering blues in the style of Ali Farka Touré is never far away in these fierce and hypnotic, trance-like rhythms, joyfully animated by dance-like beats.” — TÉLÉRAMA
Originally from the Timbuktu region and touring stages around the world since the 1990s, Tartit continues to uphold the traditions of the nomadic Kel Tamasheq people and Tuareg music, which is under threat of disappearance. Tartit (“union”), under the direction of the charismatic Disco, entrusts vocals and percussion to the women, accompanied by the men on guitar. A fascinating polyrhythm steeped in nostalgia, transporting listeners to the peaceful Sahara of the past.
