Sheherazade

Sheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov brings to life a legendary Orient, as imagined by Russian Romanticism, in a richly sumptuous orchestration. The violin embodies the voice of the mythical storyteller Sheherazade, who suspends the sultan’s fury through the sheer power of her tales. The Belgian conductor David Reiland conducts the work before a special post-concert meeting with the audience. Trained under Simon Rattle and Roger Norrington, he is Music Director of the Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est and the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, and teaches conducting at the Conservatoire royal de Liège.
