Rachmaninoff, Concerto n° 2
Often regarded as the king of piano concertos, Rachmaninoff’s Second Concerto unfolds a rare emotional tension, oscillating between tragic darkness and incandescent lyricism. A regular guest of the OPRL, Nelson Goerner will take command of the work, bringing a deeply considered pianistic approach in which sound density and structural clarity prevail over immediate virtuoso display. At the end of the concert, the artist will join Lionel Bringuier and the audience, with the participation of Guy Lemaire, to discuss his artistic journey, the history of the score, its formidable technical challenges, and the interpretative choices that have shaped his reading of the work.
