Max Richter, Exiles
The OPRL opens the 'Modern Classical' series with a new perspective: Max Richter, a major figure in the Modern Classical movement, draws inspiration from the trials and hopes of those seeking refuge to deliver Exiles, a minimalist work with cinematic lyricism, magnified by a lush orchestration. The Estonian conductor Kristjan Järvi, who recorded Exiles for Deutsche Grammophon to great public acclaim, places it in dialogue with some of his own compositions, in which he displays his ability to break down musical barriers and explore new sonic territories.
