Javier Perianes
“Seldom, if ever, have I encountered such a combination of evident modesty and utter brilliance." SUNDAY TIMES
A disciple of Alicia de Larrocha and Daniel Barenboim, the great Spanish pianist Javier Perianes returns to Liège for a programme largely dedicated to Spain, on the initiative of EUROPALIA ESPAÑA. In the first part, he brings together a number of youth works by Falla and pieces by Chopin that seem to have inspired them. Secondly, he combines Falla's Four Spanish Pieces, first performed in Paris in 1908, with four extracts from Albéniz's wonderful Iberia suite, an absolute masterpiece of the piano literature, whose colours and exuberance are a wonderful tribute to the composer’s and performer’s native country.
