Kirill Gerstein
“The pianist Kirill Gerstein is a true phenomenon… He presents himself as a genuine artist, a poet of sound who knows how to enchant his audience.” DER TAGESSPIEGEL
Trained in both the United States and Europe, pianist Kirill Gerstein is one of today’s most prolific and captivating performers. He presents several masterpieces of Romantic piano repertoire: Mendelssohn’s Variations sérieuses, heir to Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations; Schumann’s deeply moving Fantasy Op. 17, composed during his sudden separation from Clara; Liszt’s transcription of Wagner’s Isolde’s Love-Death; and finally Liszt’s unique and monumental Sonata, dedicated to Schumann, who in turn had offered Liszt his Fantasy Op. 17.
