Glass, Bowie, Greenwood

This time, the “New Classics” turn to rock legends. Opening the program: the creative genius behind the iconic English band Radiohead, Jonny Greenwood regularly ventures into orchestral composition, as in his score for the film There Will Be Blood (2007). Its haunting soundscapes earned him nominations at the Golden Globes and the British Academy Awards. As for the great Philip Glass, he paid tribute to David Bowie in 1996 with his symphonic reinterpretation of the album Heroes (1977), preserving the urban, hypnotic, and introspective character of the famed Berlin Trilogy by the legendary “Thin White Duke.”
