Christmas through the centuries
Paul Van Nevel and his ensemble Huelgas explore the theme of the Nativity, from the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem to the visit of the Magi. The Belgian conductor has composed an a cappella Christmas programme that spans five centuries of sacred music, uncovering some unjustly forgotten treasures from the late Middle Ages to the dawn of the 20th century. With his eight top-flight singers, Huelgas restores this repertoire to the full and bright sound that is its hallmark.
