The Awakening of the Titan
[Maestro] Me, I’m Gustav—Gustav Mahler. I am a conductor at the Budapest Opera, and one day I will be in Vienna: two prestigious musical capitals! I will even conduct my own music one day at the Salle Philharmonique in Liège… I am also a composer. I love drawing inspiration from the sounds of nature and village life. Everything fascinates me: shaping the infinite colors offered by musicians, imagining the inclusion of folk dances, gypsy songs, birdsong, or even Frère Jacques as a funeral march! I also know how to move from the faintest sound to the most dazzling heights… My First Symphony will be called “Titan.” It will open up a new world. My power as a composer will carry you into the future, just before stepping into the 20th century. Who will follow me on this adventure?
