Gergely Madaras receives the prestigious "Conductor of the Year" award at the Bartók Radio Music Awards.

Gergely Madaras was today presented with the prestigious ‘Conductor of the Year’ award at the Bartók Radio Music Awards.
The ceremony took place at the Budapest Music Center, celebrating the most outstanding Hungarian classical music artists and projects of the past year across 11 categories.
" There is no greater joy than recognizing the leading figures of Hungarian musical life-," said Márton Devich, director of Bartók Radio. “With these awards, we express our gratitude for the extraordinary performances these exceptional musicians share with audiences both on air and in concert halls. »
Gergely follows Iván Fischer - the inaugural recipient of this Award in 2024, commenting :
I’m delighted and honoured to accept this prestigious award. I’ve always taken great pride and joy in championing the music of Hungarian composers. This heritage—deeply rooted at home and carried across borders—has been a guiding force in my musical life. I feel fortunate to share it with fellow musicians and audiences around the world.
Committed to promoting Hungarian music both in Hungary and abroad, Gergely Madaras recently recorded Liszt’s Faust and Dante Symphonies for the Scandinavian label BIS, conducting the OPRL. In recent seasons, he has also led the Orchestra in an ambitious recording project of the complete orchestral works of Ernő Dohnányi, scheduled for release in 2026 on the Paris-based label Alpha Classics.
The OPRL is delighted by this prestigious award presented to its Music Director, with whom it has shared these projects dedicated to Hungarian music, as well as a tour last November that took them to Budapest, Veszprém, and Pécs.
Congratulations, Gergely!
