Fête de la musique

As summer approaches, the OPRL shines a spotlight on the 2025 Classic Academy laureate, trumpeter Francisco José Santos Funina, recipient of the Orchestra Prize. A soloist with a radiant personality, he captivates with his warm, powerful tone and his constant attentiveness to the orchestra. Having come to further his training at the Royal Conservatory of Liège with Philippe Ranallo, the young laureate, acclaimed by the Orchestra’s musicians, will take on Henri Tomasi’s Trumpet Concerto, a landmark work of the 20th century combining virtuosity, lyricism, and energy. With its communicative spirit and playful character, the piece fits perfectly within the ethos of the Fête de la musique—a celebration of openness, youth, and shared enjoyment. In contrast to this солнеc vitality, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 will take over under the baton of Adrian Prabava, unleashing its full dramatic power to bring the afternoon to a close in a resolutely festive spirit.
