Audition Procedures

Description

The OPRL is holding an audition for 2 Violas Tutti.

Practical information

When: Monday, June 29, 2026 at 11:00 (attendance required from 10.15 for the draw)

Where : Salle Philharmonique de Liège (entrance 14, rue Forgeur - 4000 LIÈGE)

How : Complete your application form online or send it by e-mail to concours@oprl.be  before midnight on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the latest.

Remuneration

  • Monthly Salary : starting from 3,883.32 € gross.
  • Additional allowances: clothing allowance, audiovisual fee, double holiday pay.
  • Benefits: supplementary pension plan (80% covered by the employer), guaranteed income insurance, 24/7 instrument insurance, reimbursement for instrument maintenance.
Auditions

Auditions will consist of three rounds:

First round

1st movement (without cadenza) of a concerto of your choice between: 

  • STAMITZ, Concerto for viola (edition Peters)
  • HOFFMEISTER, Concerto for viola in D major

- One or more orchestral excerpts (chosen by the jury, taken from the list shown in round 3)*

Second round

1st movement (without cadenza) from a concerto of your choice between: 

  • BARTÓK, Concerto for viola (Ed. Serly) (including "lento parlando", up to "a tempo moderato" before the 2nd movement)
  • HINDEMITH, Der Schwanendreher
  • WALTON, Concerto for viola

- One or more orchestral excerpts (chosen by the jury, taken from the list shown in round 3)*

Third round

Orchestral excerpts*

  • BEETHOVEN, Symphony No. 5, 2nd movement
  • BERLIOZ, The Roman Carnival
  • BRAHMS, Symphony No. 4, 3rd movement
  • SHOSTAKOVICH, Symphony No. 5, 1st movement
  • MAHLER, Symphony No. 10, 1st movement
  • MENDELSSOHN, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Scherzo
  • MOZART, The Magic Flute, Overture
  • RAVEL, Daphnis and Chloé
  • R. STRAUSS, Don Juan
  • TCHAIKOVSKY, Serenade for Strings, 2nd movement

The orchestra’s pianist will be available to accompany you, BUT WITHOUT THE POSSIBILTY OF REHEARSING BEFORE HAND.
