Orchestra immersion
Join the musicians of the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège on stage through an immersive video experience.
Step Inside the Orchestra
What if you could experience The Sorcerer’s Apprentice as though you were on stage, surrounded by the musicians, through a 360° immersive video filmed with the OPRL? This is the idea behind Step Inside the Orchestra, a new project launching in January. Thanks to funding from private partners and dedicated public grants, the Orchestra is investing in the production of a 12-minute immersive video and a fleet of virtual reality headsets, bringing audiences inside the orchestra, particularly those with limited access to live performances. An educational, social, cultural… and fun initiative! A perfect example of technological innovation working hand in hand with making culture accessible to all.
An Immersive Video Filmed in Liège
Last July, the OPRL and Lionel Bringuier recorded Paul Dukas’s celebrated The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Hidden among the music stands, no fewer than ten cameras captured a 360° view of what the orchestra’s 80 musicians experience, play and hear in this magnificent architectural setting.

Who is it for?
The project has already attracted the support of numerous corporate partners, primarily in the healthcare sector, and receives dedicated funding from the Province of Liège.
From early 2027, it will be rolled out in hospitals, with plans to extend it to schools, care homes and other settings. This cultural outreach initiative fully supports the OPRL’s mission to make music accessible to the widest possible audience, while reinforcing the dynamism of a major musical institution in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, committed to embracing the times in which it operates.
Here are just some of the ways the experience can be used:
Accessibility and cultural outreach: hospitals, care homes, organisations serving audiences with limited access to cultural activities, schools and social organisations.
Events and presentations: cultural events, demonstrations, institutional presentations and corporate events.
And audiences around the world: the experience can be enjoyed using a VR headset or through the 2D video version (see button above).
